Adobe Illustrator 8/CS2
I created this at a time when I wanted to learn cartooning. I always thought of myself as a realist and considered cartooning beyond my grasp. I really had to go back to the basics. I looked at lots of 50's modern art, abstract art, animation, Jack Kirby, and I don't know what all, to better understand basic shapes and simplification in cartooning. 😀

This turned out great! Excellent character and details, and a great layout to boot.
Thank you Eric! Your art seriously inspires me. :)
Wow you have great talent and a real grasp of your style. You nailed the space cat illustration.

Wow, it's Michelle! Drat! I keep forgetting you have a blogspot! I'll drop over now and catch up.
Thank you for letting me know what you think Michelle, it means a lot! :)
Whoops! Almost forgot to say hi to Michael M. up there! Thank you for the compliments, especially coming from someone of your artist caliber! :)
It's very effective - I could (and would) see it as an animation. It has a modern look with that slight retro coolness.
(By the way, your blog only allows people with blogger accounts to comment - I'm usually at Wordpress but had to log on).
Hi Tanaudel! Thank you for the great comment. :) I was looking at a lot of animated styles when I illustrated this, trying to teach myself how to draw cartoons, expand my color knowledge, and use more abstract shapes. I'm glad I was able to capture the effect I was going for.
You're the upteenth person to point out my poor settings. No wonder people don't comment very often. Finally I will listen!! I've since changed my settings so now anyone can comment. Thank you! :)
Thank you for your kind comments Penny, I really appreciate it. :)
